DC Charging amplifying HD spinup noise in Archos Jukebox

(1/1)

spaceling:
I got a jukebox studio for my car and upgraded the HD to 100gb. Everything plays very nicely, but when it is plugged in to the DC outlet of the car with a DC charger (from newmp3technology) some really odd and annoying sounds can be heard. Basically it sounds like the HD spinup and spindown noises are somehow getting amplified through my line out (connected to the car's audio via an AUX line). Is this anything anyone has heard of before? Would this be a problem with the DC charger, my archos, my car's aux (or possibly all of the above)? What do you think?

hwneumann:
The noise you are hearing simply can come from the cars engine and electricity circuit. May be you should try out some denoising measures for car audio (several in the shops). Especially avoiding double minus wires (e.g. minus via DC cable "and" minus via audio cable) often helps. Even the use of a little audio transformer between AJB and radio often is successful. In Germany there is a "Masseschleifen-Isolator GL-205" at www.conrad.de , part no. 379234 (link doesn't work, sorry). May be you can find something comparable in your country.

Good luck
