Boot freeze after initial installation on IPod photo (color)

(1/1)

kevpatts:
Hey all,

Having a little problem with the windows installation. Everything went hunky dory as far as installing the boot loader, but when I unzipped the firmware file (http://www.rockbox.org/dist/build-ipodcolor/rockbox.zip) into the root of the iPod, unmounted it, and rebooted it. Now when I boot the iPod the screen says:

Rockbox boot loader
Version: 20060131-0937
IPOD version: 0x00060004
TOSHIBA MK6006GAH
PARTITION 1: 0X0B 57192 MB
Model: ipco
Checksum: 283BA1A
Sum: 283BA1A
Rockbox loaded.

and it hangs there (for over 2 hours now). The drive is spinning and I can't hook it up to my pc to modify the installation or even restore the iPod firmware (haven't tried disk mode from the diagnostic menu yet).

Can anyone help?
Kevpatts (former ipodlinux programmer, very interested in rockbox since I found out it supports the iPod).

kevpatts:
Disk mode worked so I can get back to the original firmware now (by renaming  rockbox.ipod). Does anyone know a solution to this problem? I'll try the most recent proper release instead of the nightlies...

kevpatts:
no luck with the nightly build either, same problem.

Cheesewheel:
I had this same exact problem with today's build (15-Sep-06).  I reverted to the 14-Sep-06 build and it seems to be working now.  It was random with the 15-Sep-06 build, so don't take this as fact yet :S
