The reset button for the X5 is changed by RB or not?

(1/2) > >>

afruff23:
Is the X5's reset button (the one that requires a pin) HW-based or SW-based? If SW-based, does RB modify any code controlling the button?

Also, I heard that the battery's voltage has to reach a certian point for the X5 to turn off. If RB devs didn't disassemble the Cowon OF to fidn the code required to do this, then would there have been a way to turn off the X5 while in Rockbox(possibly use reset button?)?

LinusN:
The reset button is purely hardware and the software can't do anything to disable it. That's the very purpose of the reset button.

Regarding the battery voltage, I'm not sure I understand your question.

afruff23:
For a battery to shut off without a hard reset, don't you have to do something on the software side?

LinusN:
The hardware will automatically shut down when the battery runs out. However, it has been discussed that we might want to introduce a software shutdown before the battery reaches the critical level, but we haven't yet found a compelling reason to do so.

RaeNye:
BTW, what you call "hard shutdown" is actually some kind of standby mode, since the PCF50606 (power chip) never fully shuts down (unless battery is really dead), so things like the RTC would work.
