TagCache Picks Up Game Sounds

I just updated my 5g iPod to the new 1.2 firmware and I downloaded Tetris to try out the new game feature.  Needless to say, the next time I updated TagCache in Rockbox, I saw there was a "Blues" genre that wasn't there before, and it had WAV files in it.  I had no idea what they were, but I soon realized they were the sound effects from Tetris.  I don't know if this is a problem or not, but I thought it was interesting, especially the fact that TagCache assigned them to the "Blues" genre to the sound effects.  -CK

Well, this would imply to me that Apple puts actual .wav files on your iPod for Tetris to use as sound effects. TagCache can't be told to ignore any files, yet.

If it's TagCache though, how do you know they're WAV and not some other format? WAV files shouldn't have tags.

lachlan:
I read in the ipodwizard forums that the games have .wav sounds in .ipg file, which is basically just a .zip, as well as some other lossless format which escapes my mind.

I know they are WAV files exactly because they don't have tags for TagCache to read. In Rockbox the files don't have names.  They are in the section.  When you play one of the files the only info it gives is the word "WAV".  I simply recognized the sounds as Tetris sound effects.

The weird thing is the fact that TagCache puts them in the "Blues" genre.  This baffles me completely.  I went into the iPod_Control folder on my iPod and found the files in the games folder.  I tried to see if they had tags, but they didn't of course.  "Blues must me some weird kind of default that TagCache assigns them to.  I have no clue though.  -CK

Yotto:
I believe that Blues is the "Default" id3v1 genre.  A very large number of my unsorted mp3s are "Blues"

As to the rest, I can't say.
