Mini 2G installation problem - cycle of doom!

(1/1)

almondjoy:
Hopefully you guys can help me with this...

The bootloader installation went fine.  I got the -1 error, then it reverted back to Apple's layout.

I plugged the iPod back in, reset it, held select+play to force it into disk mode.  I then unzipped rockbox-ipodmini2g-20060913.zip straight into the iPod root directory.

I ejected the iPod in iTunes, unplugged it, and it froze at the "OK to disconnect" screen.  Didn't respond to button presses, except for when I held select+menu to reboot.

Once I rebooted, it went into this endless cycle:

-Apple logo
-Rockbox fine print startup mumbo jumbo
-Rockbox logo for a split second
-Some other icon that looks like a plug or something for a split second
-Blank screen, as you would see when resetting it
-"Do not disconnect" screen for a few seconds
-Blank screen again

And somewhere in there you can hear the hard drive click once.

Rinse and Repeat.

Any ideas???

To be clear, my understanding is that I know I have the 2G mini because it says "4 GB" on the back.....is that true?

EDIT:  I have since gone back to the Apple firmware, which works fine, until I can get this resolved.  On an unrelated note, the battery icon now has the little "charging" lightning bolt next to it at all times.  Any ideas on this?

Well, even though I am unexperienced at this subject, i recommend uninstalling rockbox (so the guys don't know you have it) and taking it to an apple store.  It looks like you have a problem with the dock.
