Help Needed.
« on: September 12, 2006, 11:35:42 PM »
Greetings.
I was recently able to install Rockbox on my ipod Video (props to all the contributors), but it has not been working properly since today. For whatever reason, Rockbox failed to recognize any of my songs although I was able to browse my music, artist, and album folders. By failing to recognize, I mean that songs were not showing up at all on the screen even though they existed.
So, I replaced the firmware version with the one I downloaded today, and Rockbox is now able to recognize my songs. The only problem I am now having is that it is not playing the songs properly. All of my songs become static when I play them.
Please let me know what the problem could be and how to fix it.
Thank you in advance.

Some basic information about you songs is needed here... Mainly, what format are you using?

Also, reset settings (hold REC on startup) and recheck.

Thanks for your replies.
(Note: Just to clarify, the initial problem of not being able to see the songs - I mean that they did not show up on the filetree for me to browse.)

As for formats, I've tried flac, wv, and ogg, and none of them seem to be working. I don't think the problem lies in formats.

RaeNye - can you explain what you mean by holding REC on startup?  Not sure what REC is... Thanks.

He's thinking of the way that settings are reset on the iriver platforms.  On your iPod, you can reset settings to their defaults through the Manage Settings item in the main menu, or by starting Rockbox with the hold button on.
