cyclic redundancy error message
« on: September 11, 2006, 06:59:24 PM »
Hey folks,

New to the list and to rockbox. I just bought a refurb iriver H140 on ebay and getting a cyclic redundancy error message when copying files to the disk. It seems that it does it every time the drive gets to a certain capacity. What I am able to get on the drive seems to play just fine. Is this a sign of a bad hard drive? The people I bought it from are saying they'll repair it for me so I am not too cincerned I just wanted to know if that was what was going also. Also on a somewhat related note has anyone ever replaced the hard drive themselves on an H140? I would like to possibly see about putting a 60gb drive in it, but not sure what type of drive these units take or if a 60gb would even fit as it might be thicker. Thanks.

John

Yes, it is a sign of a bad hard drive. And yes, it is possible to fit a 60Gb drive in an H140.

Thanks for the reply. That's great that a 60gb drive will fit in there. Do you happen to know if they are the same drives that the ipod uses?
