Ipod Mini 1st Gen: Playback frequently freezes
« on: September 10, 2006, 11:03:25 PM »
I just modded my Ipod Mini 1st Gen to Rockbox Firmware (CVS-060910). Everything went as smooth as possible since i followed the instructions word per word and made sure that i got the same results all the way.

I upgraded to rockbox firmware since i listen to audiobooks quite often and the bookmark function i consider is a necessity.

Anyway, the problem with my ipod mini is that everytime i play anything may it be a audiobook mp3 (96kBit) to audio mpe (128kBit) it always freezes on me. There is no definite time frame or any file in particular but it always did. The problem is not difficult to solve just perform a soft reset (Menu+Select) and everything is fine again until you playback files again. Also, Im not sure if this helps but everytime i open a directory folder it alerts me that: Dir Buffer is Full!

I hope you guys can help me out with my problem. Here are some details about the state of my ipod based on the Rockbox Info (Menu-Info-Rockbox Info):

Buffer: 29.966MB 77% 1h 45m
Disk: 3.76GB
Free: 813MB

Go to Main Menu --> System --> Lilmits and try setting the "Max Files in Dir Browser" to a higher number.
