Archos Jukebox Studio 20 power adaptor
« on: September 10, 2006, 07:18:36 PM »
I recently dug up my Studio 20 to give to my brother, but I'm not sure if I have the right AC adaptor.  The player was in a box with some other old electronics and AC adaptors.  I'm pretty sure I have the right adaptor, but there's no label on it.

So to the meat of my problem, can anyone tell me what the voltage ouput for the AC adaptor of a Archos Jukebox Studio 20 is supposed to be?  The one I've decided is the right one is 9V 600mA.  The technical information page on the Archos website doesn't specify this.  I just don't want to mess up the player or batteries.

9 V 600 mA sounds OK, although you may measure a higher voltage because it's not stabilized. + must be inside of the plug, and I think you should test that to be on the safe side. If polarity is wrong you will kill the charging IC.

Good luck

The adapter is labelled "Kings Electronics" or something like that, and is rated at 9V 600mA center positive.

However, if you want to replace it, I recommend a regulated 12V 1A.

Just a question: Don't you think 12 V is a bit too much...?

Especially on players (like STUDIO, bad charging regulation) I could measure rather high current values when applying voltages above about 10 V.

Well, I'm just asking, you may shurely have more experience on that, but current values of about 500 mA and more are too much for many NiMH batteries.
