iPod...RockBox...and the XBOX 360
bishonen:
Ok...using rockbox on my ipod mini 4gb 2nd gen.
Everythings great.
Now, I connect it to my new xbox 360.
Go to play some music....Nothing.
So, i figure that its using the normal ipod/itunes directory.
Is there ANY way for my ipod to be seen as an external HD and
NOT switch back to the apple firmware?
I already tried Holding MENU on the usb connection, but that just keeps it running and allows charging.
Thanks for your help.
Llorean:
Why do you want to prevent it from switching back to the Apple firmware?
The XBox 360 should see your music as long as it's in formats the '360 recogizes, I believe. I'm not sure it's capable of playing AAC, for example.
bishonen:
Because, the console will see it as an iPod and limit access function.
It will only look at the itunes database and reference that for music files.
I can access the actual directories in photo/movie listings, but thats kinda useless.
I am hoping that by it not switching back, that it will be seen as a Generic USB Drive instead of an iPod.
I was thinking that is why it swtches back when I plug it in...

Ok, just a thought...
Anyway to get rid of this dual-boot stuff?
Just force it to use RB.
Anyone done it? Any problems?

Yotto:
I don't have an Xbox so I can't speak on that. But there is no way to both access your iPod as a USB drive and not be in the apple firmware. I believe it's on the list of stuff to do, but it hasn't been done yet.
I'd be surprised if the Xbox (A Microsoft product) read the iTunes DB (An Apple product) but I'm not all read up on corporate policies.
Llorean:
Rockbox doesn't have its own USB mode. It *always* uses Apple USB right now.
