The "windows wont mount" problem again
« on: September 09, 2006, 03:26:14 PM »
So it goes like this:

I had rockbox installed on my 1st gen mini for a little and everything was working fine. Today, though, while adding some more music, the transfer speed slowed down to a crawl so i cancelled it and unplugged the ipod, plugged it back in, then it took about a minute for anything to show up while locking a few things up in the process. Once something finally did show up, it was just labeled as a "removable drive". Double clicking on it resulted in windows saying that the drive was corrupted and/or unreadable. It didnt ask me if i wanted to format it. Right clicking on the drive icon would just cause the window to lock up until i unplugged the thing. Booting the ipod into disk mode yielded the same results and for some reason it doesnt want to boot into the apple firmware  :-\

Rockbox on the ipod itself still works fine, though. What should i do?

This thread belongs here. You had it in the wrong board BEFORE, and I moved it here.

What happens when you try to boot it into the Apple OS?

Also, in the future, please read the posting guidelines BEFORE posting in any given forum.

No.  Turn the player off.  Turn it back on, and then immediately press and hold Menu until you see the message "Loading original firmware ..."

it flashes "loading original firmware..." for a split second as it restarts then loads back into the bootloader.

If it says loading original firmware and then doesn't enter the original firmware that means that you improperly installed the bootloader, either without the original firmware, or with a corrupted original firmware file.
