« on: September 08, 2006, 09:39:23 PM »
I followed all the steps correctly but when i get to the last part "ipod_fw -g video -o rockboot.bin -i apple_os.bin bootloader-video.bin" i keep getting this error "Cannot open firmware image file apple_os.bin" why does it keep doing this?

Is the file apple_os.bin in the folder you're running the command from?

It's created in earlier steps, if you do them right.

Ok i did everything right now but how do i do the last step?
"To install (or upgrade) Rockbox you need to attach your iPod to your PC via USB or Firewire, ensure that iTunes is set up to allow you to access your ipod as a disk, and then unzip rockbox.zip to the top-level (root) folder on your iPod."

Where is the top-level(root) folder?

That just means "on the iPod but not in ANY folders" also known as the root, or the top level (not under any other levels).

There should be two things to put there, a file called rockbox.ipod and a folder called .rockbox, but yes, both of those go in the Removable Disk

If you reboot the iPod (holding Menu+Select) and nothing changes at all, you have not done all of the first part properly.
