JBR20 won't boot unless battery (re)installed

I have a Jukebox Recorder that boots fine when batteries are inserted.  But after a shutdown with the batteries still in place, pressing the power-on button makes the disk spin, the backlighting of the display turn on, but nothing else - no actual display and no boot-up.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Did you resolder already all the well known connections?

It's often the case that one could think about a really difficult failure - but at the end it's only a broken solder joint...
