tag cache does not appear in menu

After reading the manual, the wiki, and searching the forum I haven't found an answer to this problem I'm having.
I have a Studio 20, and I've successfully flashed the daily build "rockbox-player-20060906". I've enabled id3 database under "Show Files" but I can't find any Tag Cache menu under General Settings in order to build the database.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "The Tag Cache options can be accessed in General Settings -> File View -> Tag Cache." But it isn't there when I scroll down through my settings menu. These are the only menu options I have under "File View":

Sort Case Sensitive
Sort Directories
Sort Files
Show Files
Follow Playlist
Show Icons

So, my question to you, helpful souls, is where is this Tag Cache Menu. If it is enabled through some other rockbox menu, please help me know where I enable it. If I need to edit some cfg file or run some rock, then please let me know. The manual and wiki just seem to take it for granted that the Tag Cache menu is there, except for me it isn't. (Was this feature removed??)

Looking through the Tag Cache wiki page I noticed this footnote:

" Model-specific problems -- * Archos Recorder: General Settings -> File View -> Tag cache doen't exist because there isn't sufficient RAM. This is the case also for General Settings -> System -> Disk -> Directory Cache. "


The Archos Jukebox Studio 20 I think has the same RAM issue as the Archos Recorder, so I'm guessing that's why there's no Tag Cache for the Studio 20.

If this is indeed the case, then the manual (pdf, html, etc) for the Jukebox is currently misleading, as it incdicates that this is a feature enabled on this model.

If there is some other way of making the id3 database option work after selecting it under "Show Files", please let me know. Thanks.

There is Tag cache for all targets however the option to keep the cache in RAM has been disabled for the archos targets because they have very little ram. I built a fresh ui sim today and the Tag Cache menu is there under General settings -> File View -> Tag Cache i don't have an archos target to test on but if it's indeed missing it's a bug. To enable the tag cache select initialize now and when it's finished you should be able to browse the cachce, good luck.

I upgraded to the latest daily build.
seems 2.5 doesnt have the funcion yet? however there is the option to display files by ID3 tags. Im confused.

The 2.5 version has an older ID3 database engine, which you have to generate offline. This has been replaced by Tag Cache in later versions of Rockbox.

And yes, I think "Tag Cache" is a really bad name for a tag database.

Just as a note, 2.5 will never have TagCache, so there's no "doesn't have the function yet" about it. It's a static version, and won't change.
