2 of every song
« on: September 05, 2006, 01:06:40 PM »
i'm showing files by id3 and all my songs are duplicated. i've initialized many times and "update now"'d many times also. still a duplicate of every thing.

i've also tried deleted all the cache files via my computer to no avail.

is there another tactic i can attempt?

thanks in advance!

Did you copy and paste music into your iPod root?

1. Make sure you haven't actually got 2 copies of all your songs on the machine ;)
2. What version are you running? A recent update had a fix for duplicate TagCache entries.

i didn't paste into the root, but into a specific directory.

i did make sure that i didn't copy my collection twice and as for the build it's 09/2's build. maybe i'll update it after work this evening.

thanks for the help and i'll respond with my results.

If you still have the songs iTunes installed, and the copied version then you do indeed have two versions.

Solution? Either delete the versions you copied over, or delete the iPod_Control folder. It is set to hidden, so you may need to reverse that.

the new build didn't fix it so i deleted all of my songs and the tag caches and tried again. that seemed to fix the problem. thanks for all the help
