ihp100 hard drive upgrades

(1/1)

rickeyjt:
Is there any issue with upgrading ihp120 or or ihp140 to larger hard drives?  Will the firmware recognize the additional space?  Any extra power requirement issues?  3.3v but wattage for startup and seek times are higher.

Toshiba has them up to 80gb also using PMR technology.  The ihp120 can take a 5mm thick drive and ihp140 a 8mm thick hard drive.

I think that PMR drives (MK4007GAL and MK8007GAH) are not being sold yet. Did you find them in any shop? I would like to buy the MK4007GAL if it has the same connector as the original drive.

I saw an 80gb (PMR) on ebay for $655.  The CE (ZIF connector type) will not work.  You can find some 60gb MK60006GAH for the ihp140 out there reasonably priced.  MK3006GAL 30gb for the ihp120 too.
