my nano is dead...
headworm:
Just tried resetting, did nothing.
Connected iPod to computer via USB and it comes to life! With a very low battery. It was stuck in some kind of boot loop. So I held select and play (to enter disk mode), uninstalled RockBox and it works fine, still has all my tunes on it as well.
If anyone encounters this problem, let the battery die, plug it into your computer, enter disk mode and uninstall rockbox using the patcher. Worked for me.

I've had the same thing. Installed Rockbox (Lastest Daily Build!) (Luckily I dumped the contents of my IPod to my HDD first!) It's a first Gen Nano 2GB. Crashed when connected to PC I think (USB). Now does NOTHING.
Have tried numerouse times to reset (holding down Menu and Select!), PC doesn't detect it, plug it into dock etc... nothing, nada, just a blank screen. (Did remove a bit of fluff that had been stuck in the bottom connection socket!) but still no joy. So I guess I leave it, wait then... Connect it back to PC see what happens? How long will it take for the battery to discharge? Any ideas? ???
Is it preferred that you turn the IPod on and let it be running Rockbox before you connect via USB? I was using a 3rd Party cable, would this make any difference??? Anyone got any other ideas. Ever since my girlfriend go her IPod and nearly threw it through the window due to ITunes we've been using Anapod Manager ever since. It's not bad, but can be a bit picky about who's IPod you connect, even though we've got the Universal License, there support sucked too. But at least could use Drag an Drop.
I thought that Rockbox was a great alternative, true drag and drop. ;D
I'll give it a week and let you know how I get on. :-\
Edit - remove silly colours that meant you couldn't read bits of the post - BigBambi
saratoga:
Theres no USB mode in rockbox for the ipods, so you need to boot into the OF to use USB.
And as far as I know, the hardware reset will always work, so it sounds like you're not doing something right.
Plasma350:
Hello,
I am having the same problem, but I have just installed Rockbox 3. After unplugging the ipod from my computer and shutting it down, it will no longer respond when I try to turn it on. The computer does not recognize it either and I have had Rockbox on it for quite a while with no problems. Also, I have tried the usual steps to revive it (Menu+Center Buttons) but I still get nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Plasma350

Charge it. And search the forums first, these kind of question is coming up frequently, and the Ipod not reacting is in almost all cases a flat battery.
