my nano is dead...
« on: September 04, 2006, 05:50:26 PM »
I installed ROCKBOX on my 2GB ipod nano today, worked good for a while then i connected to the PC and disconnected. It went off and since that time i can't turn it on. Please guys help me :/ I tried everything and it just wont start...

Connecting to the PC do nothing. It becomes invisible for PC. Nothing happens. It's just DEAD.

Flip the hold switch on then off, and then hold the center and menu keys for up to around 15 seconds.

If nothing, post here again, and maybe we can help you out more.

The more information you give us about what you have tried, the more quickly we will give you new stuff to try.....

And the more quickly we can help you solve your problem. So far you have given us very little.

No. Can you reset and then go into disk mode? (Delect and play afaik)? Resetting (Select + Menu) might take quite a while, I even heard of someone who need to press the two buttons about 45 seconds.

Mine is dead too.

Worked good enough for some time, then yesterday as usual I plugged it in USB and didn't pay much attention, after Rockbox detected USB connection, after some time I noticed that iPod doesn't show up on my PC, glanced at the iPods screen and there was Apple logo, pressed some buttons - nothing happens, disconnected from USB - nothing, [Menu] + [Select] - iPod turns off. Now it won't turn on no matter what I do, tried to reset it again, tried to charge it, hit it, did the voodoo dance - nothing helps. PC doesn't detect it either.

Ideas? I think I'll send it to ipodpartsonline.com.

Hi, Febs. I charged it for a few hours and battery was almost full anyway.

Flip the hold switch on and then off again, and then try the reboot sequence again (Menu and Select).
