Boot Screen on IPOD/
« on: September 04, 2006, 01:35:52 PM »
Ok i installed RockBox, and then removed it, but when i reboot the ipod with Menu+Select, it still shows up the Rockbox green boot window, and then switches to normal Ipod. Help with removing it from there, its quite annoying...

There is no part of Rockbox that is green... I'm not sure what you're talking about, but it sounds as if you may have been using unofficial files.

As for removing Rockbox, either updating your firmware using the apple update tool, or using "ipodpatcher -w N bootpartition.bin" (if you kept the original bootpartition.bin) will work. Using the restore option will also work but that will mean you have to resync everything to the iPod.

Did you install from windows?

If so, you used the ipodpatcher tool to do several steps. You should have at one point done "ipodpatcher -r N bootpartition.bin" and gotten the file bootpartition.bin. You just need to reverse that step. Do "ipodpatcher -w N bootpartition.bin" to put the original boot partition back on the player.

Worked, Thanx Alot!

Installed the App, liked the design and stuff, but seemed hard to transfer all that music to rockbox folder, and playing it from file explorer and using playlists, and i still find Ipod menu better... but thx anyways great firmware!!!

You could also try Tag Cache so that you may be able to continue using iTunes (or iTunes-compatible programs) to transfer your music to the ipod and still use Rockbox.  As I say though, I absolutely love Rockbox and use it 100% of the time I use my ipod, but at the same time I won't shove it down anybody's throat who didn't find it to their liking.  At least you tried it!  Lots of people won't be convinced that it's risk-free ::looks at his RL friends::.

hmm okay.. I have Ipod Linux on my Ipod now, and i use the loader to switch between Apple OS and Linux.. Is there a way to add Rockbox to that Loader and start it from there? IF yes, could someone tell me what changes this causes during installation of rockbox...

if you have loader 2.X ( shows a menu)  just drag the .rockbox and rockbox.ipod to the root of your ipod and thats it
