When you run a playlist of songs all in the same folder, does it still happen?
Yes

As well, if you put a single song on repeat does it happen?
Going to test it out.. Hmm, each song I tested.. it started screeching before it could go on repeat. Although I could repeat a 26 second intro without any problems.

Okay, the fact that you're the only person experiencing and reporting such a readily recurring problem leads us into the next stage: What's different about your situation.

You've stated that the settings are clear.
You've stated that you're using a Daily build from a day or two ago. I assume you mean an unmodified daily build, downloaded from the download link at the left: Have you tried updating to the newest CVS version from the CVS Builds link?
What bootloader do you have installed?

It's all default.. After installation.. I added my music and played and it occurred.

Have you tried actually clearing the settings using Manage Settings --> Reset Settings?  Installing a new build does not reset the settings to default, and it's not clear from your prior posts whether you developed this problem when you initially installed Rockbox or when you updated to a new build.

I've had my video ipod for all of two days and immediately searched for mods. I gotta say, rockbox is great, giving me the flexibility i wanted with my ipod. I have been using unmodified daily builds and have gotten that terrible terrible screeching noise. I haven't used the ipod very much, but i use 192kb mp3's and so far I've only had this problem in my car. Could it be caused by vibrations from my not so great suspension? i am currently using a custom theme but had no problems playing audio using one of the default themes when i first installed rockbox and was able to listen to several cds over about an hour in my car.

the problem always happens at the beginning of a song, after about one or two songs. the problem does sound exactly like static and stops if i pause the mp3s. so far i haven't found a way to fix it without rebooting my ipod. i'll try using a default theme again and see if that clears up the problem. let me know if you want any more information.

UPDATE: Well I just came back from a car trip, using a rockbox daily build for the entire 7+ hours (round trip) while using the default theme. I only had the static problem once, but it did still occur even after turning off the hardware/software eqs. The screen did freeze, though the music continued, a few times (I believe this is due to a bug with the peek meters?). The time the static problem did start the meters weren't frozen, it was after selecting a short ep, all in one folder, to play, and I couldn't reproduce the bug through other plays of the ep, all starting from the first song. Again the files are encoded using a LAME encoder at 192 kb for the mp3s.
Anybody else still experiencing this problem? It really doesn't happen that much anymore, but it is pretty painful to my ears when it does.

I had this happen on an iriver H10 when running the Dec 22 daily build.  It happened once, and power cycling (maybe a hard reset) fixed it.  I don't remember what the song/playlist was, but I immediately reloaded the same playlist without errors.

It hasn't glitched since, and I've given up on trying to reproduce the error with the old build.
