A quick way to get out of the sceeching noise with out rebooting your rockbox is to skip forth quickly about 3 - 5 tracks let the song start to play then skip back to the track you were previously playing.
Take Care,
Jon

Or just press stop and then play. Won't lose your place then.

Assuming this is happening on a current CVS build (unpatched), would somebody who's seeing it add a bug report to Flyspray? Â Link:
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/index.php?type=2
It would be useful if the reporter(s) could also write their config settings to a .CFG file and attach that to the report. Â Also make a note of your device, the file format(s) you're using and a "recipe" that will allow others to reproduce the problem.
I can't repro by either method mentioned above (on an H340, nor the sim)

Request for information! Anyone who can reproduce any of this rebuffering weirdness with a plain CVS build, please add your recipes to
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/6117
and I'll see if I can reproduce (to fix).
(Note there's a test build for the H120 available, but I can make others if asked.)
It seems that this should be reproducible with default settings, but if you suspect it requires a particular configuration (e.g. dircache enabled) then please attach your CFG file too.

ouch. I'm getting this.. and I just installed the latest daily build yesterday. I'm using an iPod Video 5G 60GB..
The screeching doesn't go away, even if I fast forward or skip tracks, I mean I can press pause and I'll stop hearing it, but if I resume it'll continue on with the screeching. It wont go away, until I completely restart my iPod.
My MP3's range from 120kbs - 320kbs. Depending on album/mixtape. And it seems to happen with just about any one. No specific time that it starts.. Seems random, IMO.
So, was this issue ever fixed? with a patch maybe? ionno.

If you notice, you're the first person to report the problem since October. Why not give us a bit more information about it. How many times has it happened to you? What details can you give about the files it happened in? What are your settings set to, that you've changed from default?

lol, I noticed.. which was exactly why I said "So, was this issue ever fixed?"
Anyway.. How much more info do you need..? It's all default.. After installation.. I added my music and played and it occurred.

Notice the *specific* questions I asked:
How many times has it happened to you?
What details (note the word DETAILS) can you give about the files it happened in? (This would include specific bitrates for each of them, if you can.)
So you haven't changed any settings at all, such as shuffle mode or equalizer or bass/treble? As well, are you playing using a playlist, or dynamically by just clicking on a song?

How many times? Most of the time.. I'll maybe get one or two songs to play.
Bitrate? Let's see..
199Kb (1:00 skit) (.mp3) Seemed to play well.
switched to 186kb (3:40 song) (.mp3) played well..
now on a 214kb (.mp3 4:05 song) and about a minute in it started screeching. This time freezing the entire thing.. Had to restart it by holding menu and select.
now playing a 144kb (.mp3) about 1 and a half minute in it started screeching..
restarted.
now playing 160kb (1:20 .mp3).. played through fine.
now playing a 235kb (2:28 .mp3) started screeching 10 seconds in..
didn't restart..
now playing a 192kb (1:18 .mp3) no screech anymore, played fine..
now playing 191kb (4:00 .mp3) played fine.
192kb (4:29 .mp3) screeched 20 seconds in..
Don't want to go through anymore.. hopefully that's enough?

Hmm.. I can't help but notice I answered your question in my previous post before yours. I guess you needed verification? -_^
I don't know if I could make it any more clear other than it's default, I installed and am still running every setting it had. Didn't change a single thing. Only difference I made was dragging my music into the music folder.

The last question, not the second to last question.

Either one.
Whether it's by playlist or individual song. the list I made was from using both methods.

When you run a playlist of songs all in the same folder, does it still happen?
As well, if you put a single song on repeat does it happen?
In the past, if I recall, one of the times this kind of thing would happen would be on directory change (involving the automated one) but it seems possible something new is going on.
