RockBox Lite
« on: August 29, 2006, 07:40:07 PM »
Hi !

I like the very simple design on the iPod UI, but i also like the features in RockBox..  ;D

Is there a lite version of Rockbox available? I'm thinking of a UI very similar to the one on the iPod, but with support for Ogg Vorbis and for the dynamic playlist.  :P

Thanks,
Daniel

You're welcome to change the WPS however you like.  Beyond that, there are no other UIs that I know of.

Have you browsed the WPSs in the WPS Gallery here?  You may find something you like there.

I think he's talking more about the entire UI.  Menus and things like that.

Rockbox's design philosophy pretty much makes it impossible to recreate the Apple User Interface.  In my opinion that is a good thing.  The current design of the system also makes custom menus (Your "user interface") also impossible, which is debatable but probably for the best.

My suggestion?  Learn the Rockbox UI.  It's different, sure, but you'd be surprised how nice it is when you get used to it.

Or you can always fork Rockbox and make your own UI.

I have a suspicion the original poster is under the mistaken impression that RockBox is a modified version of the original firmware, and that the current UI is extra "cruft" sitting on top of Apple's UI.
