Now its not recognising??
« on: September 02, 2006, 02:09:41 PM »
Hi, my ipod has had some problems recently which I shared with the guys at ilounge http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/5025/icon2718926028ug2.gif so i though i have nothing to lose and tried installing rockbox which worked. And I have tried it out like playing some of the games and just playing around with the interface. But after installing rockbox now the pc wont recognise the ipod  ??? So i cant put any music which sucks. Now is there anything I can do on the ipod to revert it back to the old firmware or make it somehow recognise the ipod again.

Thanks

If you wait a while you may find your iPod appears.

Are you doing this in RockBox or in Apple Firmware? (you can boot into apple firmware by holding MENU during startup - make sure you do not activate the scroll wheel - this can be quite hard!)

Maybe you should try emergency disk mode... That might work too.

Whatever you do, do NOT go crying to Apple, they'll just moan on about you modding your iPod...

Reboot the ipod by pressing and holding Menu+Select and then immediately press and hold Select+Play.

Also, try making plugging in your iPod before turning on your computer, that works for me.

Well i booted it in the apple firmware and it worked. I threw some music on to it to discover it skips really often. I can hear the harddrive spin then the track skips and it will stop and spin again :S I think I may just revert back to the original firmware  :-[

The skipping issue is easily corrected by making sure that the software equalizer is turned off and by using a WPS that does not contain peakmeters.

Cool but could you please elaborate? I went to the sound settings>enable EQ>NO but it still skips at the begining  :-[

Are you using a WPS with peakmeters?
