Cannot Delete Rockbox

(1/1)

FreeBlues:
I'm trying to uninstall Rockbox on my 5G ipod but have encountered a problem.  In the .Rockbox folder on my player there are two folders and 4 files that look like this:  _╟L┘P╚Câ”´. á, or siminlar sort of "names."  When I try to delete these folders and files in Windows Explorer I get and error message that says "cannot read from the source file or disk".  Similarly, I cannot delete the .Rockbox folder on my ipod.

I have deleted the the Rockbox.ipod file, so now my ipod tries to boot in Rockbox, posts several errors and then defalults to the Apple OS, which is okay, but I'd like to get these ghost files off my player- - they are taking up 4mb's.

Any ideas?

Febs:
You have two separate issues here.

First, you still have the Rockbox bootloader.  Re-install the Apple bootloader or use Apple's update tool to remove the Rockbox bootloader and reinstall the Apple bootloader.

Second, you seem to have some corruption in your file system.  I believe that if you use the Apple update tool, that will fix the problem.  Otherwise, you could try removing the .rockbox folder from a DOS prompt by typing del X:\.rockbox\*.* (where X is the drive letter of your iPod).

FreeBlues:
Febs - You're right on all counts.  Restoring the ipod erased everything.

Rockbox had stopped responding in several ways - font files didn't work, EQ came and went and I'd started experiencing some skipping.  The corrupted files no doubt had something to do with this, but why they became corrupted is a mystery to me.

I'm gonna stick with the Apple OS for a while and see if Rockbox gets a little more stable.
