just having a small problem with my pod, i have formatted the pc recently, and now i cant get he ipod to be "seen" by the pc..

edit::   "i have rockbox installed and am using that, not apple firmware as i know i could get that too work..."

i have done the admin tools > Comp Managment > Disk Managment...but every time it finds the  ipod, it wants to format it before i am able to look into it..

Since Rockbox boots into the Apple firmware for USB mode, if you know you could get that to work, just do what you'd do for the Apple firmware.

any help now as i would like to update with some new albums i have bought and ripped..

ok, now if i want to format the ipod in wondows, it will only allow me to do so into NTFS.

this i assume will be a hassle as ipods run on FAT32 file system? i am unsure.

Don't format it using Windows. If anything, run the Apple Ipod Updater from Apple and wipe it clean. It will format it properly to FAT32. Download it from apple.com/ipod or use your original disc that came with the iPod.

ok, i had to format the ipod into NTFS as it was the only way the pc would recognise the ipod.

then i was able to get the latest ipod updater and format it again thru that.

abit of work, but i am glad to say i have the ipod working, but only with apple fw atm, i will chuck rockbox on again tonitgh and need to be careful the next time i format the pc.

i have now loaded it all ontothe laptop which i never format so that will be the ipod > pc connection.

should be all god from here on out..
