Please help me revive my iPod :(
(1/1)

I got the ipod 5G 30G Video. It seems that something went horribly wrong :o when I accidentally drained the battery out of my iPod. I was trying to boot back into apple's firmware when all of a sudden I lost the screen information!
The screen is now all lite up but no data on screen. The connection to the computer has gone crazy too. I have both a Mac and PC and they both don't want to recognize the iPod. It does recognize the iPod if I go into the emergency disk mode. From there I've try using the Apple firmware and restoring it back to the factory settings on both Mac and PC in both Fat32 and Mac Journal format but still the screen will not recover. I then proceed to reinstall Rockbox. It install perfectly fine and connecting to either Apple or PC was fine this time, I didn't even have to go into the emergency disk mode and it functions as a HDD. The problem is no screen data again! there is on "do not disconnect" sign. I don't know whats wrong with it! I'm thinking I some how killed the original Apple firmware and thats why it won't give me any information on screen... please if anyone have any idea I would love to hear it... other wise its warranty

There is a "Do not disconnect sign" but yet you say there is nothing on the screen?
Febs:
The "do not disconnect" screen simply means that the player is connected via USB and that you should unmount, eject or safely disconnect the player (the terminology various depending on what operating system/program you are using). Disconnect the player from USB and the player should start up in Rockbox.
If you want to charge the player while it is running, press and hold the menu button as you plug in to USB.

I'm sorry! I meant to say there isn't the usual do not connect sign. It was late at night and after 4 hours of trouble shooting so I didn't proof read my post...my apologies...
on disk mode you see nothing, when connected normally, the screen lights up, windows will recognize Apple iPod has been attached but will not completely recognize, but when Rockbox firmware is in place, it can connect perfectly fine and even the ipod light fades as it does, but no information is or graphics is displayed.

OK, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but that post doesn't make things any more clear. You really need to break that long run-on sentence into separate sentences.
For example, do you mean this?
"In disk mode you see nothing. When connected normally, the screen lights up. ..."
Or do you mean this?
""In disk mode you see nothing when connected normally. The screen lights up. ..."
I also really have no idea what you mean by "when connected normally" or "the ipod light fades as it does."
