iPod Nano - Slow USB Speed

<< < (2/2)

stripwax:
Apple's diskmode is a maintenance-mode feature  -  transferring files when running the regular apple firmware is much faster.   Perhaps, Apple decided to reduce the speed of transfer in diskmode to make it more robust in some way?  (I wouldn't say it's a flaw)

I don't know if it is *entirely* Apple's fault.  On my nano in disk mode on a Windows 2000 machine I get high transfer speeds (USB2.0, etc), but for some reason on Windows XP machines I get slower transfer speeds (~USB1.0).  This happens consistently.

audiodude:
Are there plans to implement a rockbox USB transfer mode or will users always have to use the original firmware for faster file transfers?

mightybrick:
Yes, from what I understand, Rockbox will eventually have its own USB transfer mode.
