JPG files with another extension
« on: August 25, 2006, 05:44:22 AM »
Is there a way to make Rockbox recognize Jpeg images with the extension .thm?
When I transfer the raw images from my camera there is a preview stored in a small jpeg file but as it has a wrong extension I can't open it.

You can edit the viewers.config file. Just copy the line for jpg and change it so it says thm instead.

For a quick view of a specific file (without altering viewers.config) you can hold the button that brings the context menu in your player and select "Open with" then choose the jpeg.rock.

Though as Llorean suggested altering viewers.config will enable you to open the file like any jpeg file.

Well, he asked for a way to make Rockbox recognize them, rather than just opening them. I'm a very literal minded person, as I'm sure some people have noticed. ;)

Of course you are! :D

I just wanted to give him a dirty alternative way. If there was a problem altering viewers.config or he had to do that without a computer nearby (imagine altering viewers.config using the text editor inside rockbox) he can use that way to open any file with any plugin.

Thank you for the suggestions. They both work so I'm happy.
