5G Settings problem discovered

(1/1)

LanceUppercut:
I didn't know if this should be a new thread or not, but I could'nt find the old one, as it seems things have changed a bit here.

Anyway,  I was having a problem with disk corruption and settings reset on my 5G video with all builds of Rockbox.  It seemed to be completely at random.  after much expermentation, it seems that it happens while the playlist control file is filling up...

i.e., if I turn the Ipod off after just selecting a song from a DIFFERENT album than I'm listening to at the time, my settings will all reset a best, and at worst, I'll end up with corrupt files ranging from 1 MB to 2 GB in size.  So, if i'm careful, I can wait about 10 to 15 seconds after selecting a new track, and then shut it off and all is well, settings retained and corruption avoided.  I remember a few other people who were having similar problems, so I thought i'd report it here as well as update my bug report.

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks

I have moved the thread, as it has more to do with a hardware issue (from the sounds of it so far) than issues with *installation*.  As far as old threads go, we still have many posts to move over to the new forums.  If there is a specific thread that you wish to be transferred over as soon as possible, you can PM someone with the ability to move them over.  Please only PM people that have made it apparent that they are willing to move old threads over though (Llorean has expressed a willingness to do so, and I will too).
