Crap! - help help help

hey installed rockbox on a 4th gen 20gb monochrome, and it loads up the apple logo, then 5 secs later some rockbox text appears then after about quarter of a sec of it appearing it blanks, and goes back to the apple lgo and does this continuosly.

tried connecting to comp but wont recognise it, and the wall charger does nothing for it...i'm guessing my hard drive is buggered...any help

Well, one thing that would be helpful is you told us what the last few lines of text it shows are, most particularly the last one.

it is sooo fast...but i just played with it and put it into disk mode and connected up and restored apple firmware....

i followed the instruction precisely...what could of gone wrong?


p.s. the text appears and disappears so quickly you cannot read it

The text does not go by that quickly, if you watch it a few times you can probably figure out what it's saying.

Odds are you made a typo while following the instructions, but since I don't know what you did, and you can't tell me what it says, there's really not much I can do to help.

i have it installed but when it comes up with the ext now it says that

"rockbox error: -1"

wats that?

That means you have not followed the directions completely.

This is your next step.

i kno what it is i didnt put the rockbox.ipod file on the ipod's drive

do you get more option in rockbox for people with the video that the old 4g pods?

Right :  following all the steps should result in rockbox working correctly..

I don't understand that question.  Are you asking if rockbox behaves identically for both the 4g and video ipods?  If so, then the answer is currently "yes" but in future, since the video ipod is more powerful, this will not always be the case.
