help with battery and speed

I have rockbox on my 30 gig ipod video and on my brothers 1 gig nano and i was coming the two. I noticed that his ran alot faster than mine, for instance when i was playing games such as bubbles mine would go really slow. I was messing around with some of the settings and went to general settings, file view, tag cache, and clicked on initialize now and i little icon showed up for about a minute making it run faster, and then it went back to being slow after.

If someone could explain that to me and how i can get it to perminantly run fast it would be greatly appreciated

I was also wondering about the battery life, i see that you can change it from 1300 mAh to 3200 mAh, what are the upsides and downsides of having it at its maximum

This only affects the battery meter, not the playback time.
