nano and charging, battery issues.
« on: August 22, 2006, 07:13:19 AM »
Gents,

Having some problems charging the nano battery with rockbox installed.

Problem:  Nano seems to discharge completely if left alone.  The nano is off and the hold switch is activated.

Problem:  Nano does not charge with my wall charger (from 4G ipod) with rockbox installed.  It goes into a cycle with rockbox loading then stopping.

Nano does charge when plugged into powered USB, but does not "hold" charge over night.  If I use the nano after a charge, then I get over 8 hours of battery life.

Nano with Apple software behaves normally.

I will try and update the rockbox software, mine is from July 20th (I believe).  But is there a way to circumvent this issue?  Like charge with hold on, then switch off sort of thing?

Thanks.

Have you tried this..

Have Rockbox running.

Hold menu

Plug in AC adaptor while holding menu.

This works for me.

I'll try that.  The AC adapter I have currently is not mine.  I borrowed it from a friend when I started having these issues.

Will give it a go though.

Thanks

This post belongs in here, as there is a issue with hardware and does not relate to issues with installation. ;)

As far as the Nano losing charge when turned off, I think you may have a battery problem.  My nano holds its charge just fine when turned off and the hold switch activated.  I have left it turned off for over two days and the battery stays charged.
