30gb video ipod boot problem
« on: August 22, 2006, 03:19:38 AM »
i have installed rockbox on my ipod (tanks to brandun) and its working great...but the problem is when i charge it to my charger,  first the ipod screen shows apple logo , and after that the dont not disconnect logo , again the apple logo,  and at last rock box boot , and after these all again it starts from the beggining...its like cycling these logo alternatively and doesnt end....you can look at the following pic to understand clearly ...

Edit: Pictures were removed. Hotlinking is bad, and they were unnecessarily large.

Right now to use a wall charger, either hold Menu while in Rockbox already before plugging it in, or boot into the Apple firmware first.

If you hold down the menu button, while in Rockbox, and while holding menu plug in the dock cable, it should not reboot. You must already be IN Rockbox, as I said.

As well, Rockbox is dual boot. You can boot into the Apple firmware without removing Rockbox. How to do this should be covered in the manual.

There should be a little logo in the upper left hand corner, and the batter icon should animate.

It's best though if you charge in the Apple firmware for now.

i just recently, very recently installed rock box onto my 60gb 5th generation (not 5.5) ipod. and i've been trying to figure out how to dual boot. its mentioned a lot, and i can't seem to find it in the instructions. i tried the old "hold center+menu" and it didn't work, and my friends seems to think you hold menu+next while its off. didn't work. so how do i access the original apple firmware?

As it starts up(when you see the apple logo) hit the hold switch on, and it should boot into the apple firmware
