Rockbox is much more than an "alt gui"...

ok...but still, would the manufacturer be able to tell that Rockbox (aka much more than an alt gui) had been on our mp3 players if we simply removed it before sending our boxes out to the manufacturer for warranty work?

It depends on the DAP in question, and how well you do the uninstall.
