I am about to purchase one of these players, possibly the H2 Hifi Walker, so I am just checking that current models are still supported, and that as indicated in this thread are mostly working with Rockbox/Native?

OK, I now have the player! HiFi Walker H2.

It claims firmware v2.0.

Looking at the instructions, we're told to check the HARDWARE version, but there is no place I can find that tells us that info. Or does it mean the FIRMWARE version?

and does all that mean I should be using erosqnative-hw4-erosq_2024.upt and rockbox-erosqnative-20241230.zip

OK, so I've done the deed and installed Rockbox on the new HiFi Walker H2, which seemed to go well. Am now in the process of finding a theme I like as well as a more readable font.

But I have a question: All my previous players had internal memory for storing stuff, such as its own software, but like many newer ones, this one doesn't. Since the .rockbox directory lives on the SD card(s), in order to switch to another SD card, one should either copy the .rockbox folder off the older one, or do a new rockbox install on the new one?

BTW, I used the 2024/12/30 build, FWIW.

If you're switching SD cards, just copy your existing .rockbox directory to the new SD card.

Your settings, themes and everything will go along for the ride.

Make sure your card is formatted with FAT32.

In fact, when you get the player to how you like it, I'd recommend backing up your .rockbox directory to a safe place.

A bad nightly or a failed SD Card can REALLY ruin your day.  And, starting a Rockbox installation from scratch when you had it JUST how you like it SUCKS.  🤬

My initial testing of the new player was done on a separate 32G SD card, so when I wanted to couple that .rockbox directory with the existing audio files, I did just copy .rockbox to the existing 128G card (see next para), and voila! it boots up fine! Yahooooooo!!!

I'm going slowly setting up each step. I am moving from a (dying) Clip Zip, which has 4G of internal ram, where I keep my playlists, and a 128G SD card where all the audio is. The next big thing I have to do is (1) get the playlists all  moved over, and then (2) edit them to ensure they have the correct paths for ALL the files listed therein. (I can't imagine it'll be the same as for the Clip Zip, but haven't yet connected via USB to see exactly what it is--or maybe if I was smarter than I am I could just figure it out.)

And, yes, I'll be sure to backup the .rockbox directory. (onto a NAS box with RAID-1, which oughta be fairly secure.)

Y'know, the only real negative I see about the new player is IT DOESN'T HAVE A CLIP!!!!!

Some advice.  If you drop it on the train tracks, notify the railroad.  Oh, the player will be fine!  It's the train I'm worried about.  Brick s**thouse is the term that comes to mind.

I've dropped my H2 on concrete a few times.  They're really worth it because they're built well.  I believe they sell cases.

yes, I've seen that. but it is more for transporting the player and small accessories than for fastening it to yourself while walking/whatever. Well, I do wear sport shirts with two front pockets, so I should be able to drop it into one of them.

Hello everyone, does someone know where I can find the latest stock OS that can be installed in an originally stock V1.8 firmware HiFi Walker? I believe version 2.0 has been released, but the HiFi Walker facebook page doesn't include it. Mine came with 1.8 and I never updated it. Thanks!

Mine came with 1.5 and I'm wondering if the OF can be updated to 2.0.

I'm dual booting with Native Rockbox.
