I haven't used the text editer ever before. So my question is: can the file extention be changed in the text editer, or is it limited to the filename? (actually, after 2nd thought, i realised that the filename editer might have a different name than text editer. anyhow, is it possible?).

Yes, you can input different extensions when picking a filename.

TYVM. Just another small question: if a mp3 file has a totally wrong extention, for example: .2gn, is there any way to play the file without changing the ext.? 'cause since music isn't played through a plugin, the "open with" approach wont work.

Llorean:
Without changing the extension, no, I don't believe there is.
