Now is the perfect time to have a dedicated Backlight option (iPods, at least)
« on: August 19, 2006, 07:21:50 PM »
With the new button layout on the iPod 5G, I discovered that only Menu will get you into and out of that WPS sub-menu of sorts (Repeat, Show Files, Shuffle).  Thus, the middle button is free.  Why not have the button has a dedicated Backlight switch?

Doesn't a tap of the center button take you back to the filetree, and a holding of it bring up the context menu?

Llorean, not after holding menu to get to the small settings menu from the wps. The select button does the same thing as "Menu". Might be a good idea to have select do something different.

Oh, from *within* the quick menu, have the middle button be a backlight switch?

Yeah, post a feature request then. Remember, these are discussion forums, and not the proper channel for requesting changes.

I misunderstood what you were asking.

The select button *used* to do the same thing as menu, but now after the button changes select no longer does anything in the quick menu.

Why can't you sign up? Is there a bug with the page?

Yeah, and I tried on Firefox and IE.  Email gives me a code, but it says it's invalid, and even when I don't put in an email address, it says it can't make the page or wtv.

You should get a confirmation email with a link to click. What exactly is the problem you're having?

"it can't make the page or wtv" is almost certainly not the real error message, which makes it difficult for anyone to be able to help with this.

Thanks a lot Jillorious, but I don't see it anywhere...maybe there's a lull between sending it and it being posted?

Thanks again.

don't see it
from the feature requests page, select 'WPS' from the 'categories' drop-down list. It should be somewhere between the 10th & 20th request.
and once again, please tell me if it was requested the right way, 'cause since i do not own a ipod, i'm not sure i fully understood your request.
