Picking out files for deletion

(1/1)

whatchamacallit:
Hello all,

my problem is this: Many of my music files don't have ID3 tags, either because they're quite old or because I ripped them without having internet access to contact FreeDB. Now, when I listen to music, sometimes I come across files that are really bad quality and that I'd like to delete. Because the highlight in the filelist does not move as new tracks are being played, however, I cannot quite make out exactly which file was the bad one. On the wps, it just reads "Unknown artist/ Unknown title / x - track x.mp3" where the x doesn't always happen to be the same number that's in the file name. I don't know why that is because I always try to pay attention and name the files in the order that they are on the CD, but never mind.
Is it possible to make the highlight in the filelist move to the file that's currently being played so if I note it's really bad, I can just stop and go to the filelist, open the file and delete it?
Thanks!

Assimalyst:
Set follow playlist to on. General settings -> File View -> Follow playlist. Now if you're using 'All' or 'Supported' file view the currently playing track will be highlighted when you exit WPS. You can then delete the file in the usual way.

I think there's issues if you try while its still playing though.

Yotto:
there are no issues deleting a file you are playing.  I do it all the time.  I start a podcast, wait for the hdd to stop spinning, and then, so long as it's less than about 20 meg or so (I sadly don't know how much of the 32 meg can get cached, so I round down) I delete the file.

Very occationally, it's not all queued and I miss the end, but it never actually causes a problem.

Thanks!

I just changed the corresponding settings and I'll see if it works.
