Volume at 0dB, which happens to be maximum for the h3xx might be good. Another reasonable level is 25, or really whatever you want as long as you record it.I personally think picking 0dB works so that everyone can run tests at the same level, but many people pick a level that's comfortable to listen at so they can listen some during the test. You should put the player on shuffle with a playlist that is bigger than 32mb (the buffer) though how much bigger is not too important. As well, for it to be proper, once the benchmark has started, go to the WPS and do not press any further keys. That way the backlight never comes on, or anything.
You can do Repeat All, or Shuffle on repeat. And yeah, when you reset the settings it should end up the default WPS (you may need to shut down and boot the player back up to clear the backdrop if it doesn't clear properly)
The best is to reset settings and leave *everything* at the defaults, except for enabling the disk poweroff function.
