X5: Remote controller buttons?
« on: August 12, 2006, 10:57:07 AM »
I'm using the Rockbox on my X5L for some time, but I miss 1 thing.

I am an biker, I have the controller on my belt, but the buttons are'nt yet working. In the debug info I can see the buttons work, but cannot use them.

Is it possible to implement such a function easily or is this very difficult to do?

Please let me know  :-*

I believe that this is waiting on some general button-handling rework that is pending.

Ah, is there more information about that? Any expectations on how long it will take to enable the remote controlling device?

If it will take a long time, I think I'll temporarily flash back the original firmware.

1. You should consider dual-booting instead of using only OF.
2. Remote buttons can be supported by adding the correct #ifdef's.

1. Maybe an option, I only need to find out how. I heard something of a dual boot loader (short press = rockbox, long = original FW).
2. I'm not a programmer, I don't even know what a ifdef is :-X

You will find the dualboot FW e.g. here
