Okay thats good is just ive been using apple firmware for years and got used to the charge screen when directly hooked up to charge. I didnt see it in rockbox but instead rockbox firmware booted up and I saw a tiny battery graphic on the top left showimg me it was charging. Basiclly the main question was, is this the normal way rockbox charges? because I thought it was wierd how it booted up just to charge as opposed to apple firmware where it just give's me a charging screen.

Sorry for confusion im not very clear when trying to describe things but you guys are extremely helpfull and anwser questions fast. ;D

When I plug my Ipod into the USB connector cable, with the iPod off, first Rockbox boots. Then it goes directly into a screen with a blinking circle with a slash through it, with the words "Do not disconnect" under it.  Is this normal?

A couple of questions:

1. Is it possible to listen to music on the iPod as it charges?  Right now I can't! None of the buttons seems to work while the iPod is plugged in and so playback (or anything else) is impossible.  Am I missing something?

2. I hope this is not a stupid question, but when/how can I disconnect the iPod?  Am I supposed to be doing something to make the "Do not disconnect" language go away.  What I have been doing is just disregarding this language and disconnecting it when feel like it, but I assume this language is there for a reason, or is it?

Llorean:
1) I suggest reading the FAQ, as this is covered. You aren't actually charging in Rockbox, you're in the Apple disk mode.

2) This langauge only applies if you're connected to a computer, in which case you should tell your computer to eject the device first, though this is only actually important if you're copying files.

Regarding my first question (1):  I apologize. I DID spend time looking through the latest version of the manual first-- I did searches on "charge," "charging," "disk mode," and "battery" and still did not find the answer.  I did not think to check the FAQ, but I have now checked the GeneralFAQ, the BatteryFAQ, the LiLonBatteryFAQ and the Quickstart guide.  Of the top of your head do you remember which FAQ it is in?

EDITED TO ADD: OK, this is covered in a section I overlooked, and says:

"How can I charge the iPod via USB and still be able to listen to Rockbox?

Hold down the MENU button as you insert the USB cable."

My second question (2) is indeed clearly covered in the manual and I should have seen that. Sorry.

Llorean:
It's in the IpodFAQ. Very, very definitely. ;)
