problem with backdrops

hmm i have one more question, lol

so i made a root folder on my ipod called backdrops and put the 320x240 bmp file in it, unplugged my ipod, went to the file on my ipod, selected "set as backdrop" and i got a message saying "backdrop failed". i would have put it in the .rockbox folder under backdrops but then i dont know how to access it on my ipod

can anyone tell me what i did wrong??

You have an iPod video, with a 24-bit 320x240 (exactly!) bitmap, and it's saying that it's failing?

Can you post the bitmap somewhere?
