installation problem :)
(1/1)
taff3:
hi ! i am running ubuntu and i am pretty new !
i own a apple 3g and i really was looking forward for trying rockbox for a long time now :)
to my happiness i just found out that there is a running version of rockbox for 3g version :)
well here are my problems :) maybe someone is willing to help me out with it ! thanks !
Step 1 - Compile ipod_fw: -- > i am getting no errors while compiling !
Step 2 - Preparation for installation : i found my ipod ( using firewire )
# Enter
dd if=/dev/sda of=mbr.bin count=1
to back up your partition table
# Enter
dd if=/dev/sda1 of=bootpartition.bin:---> get no errors but where do the files go ? i search for it on my filesystem but i cannot find the 2 files !
Extract the Apple firmware from the bootpartition.bin using the ipod_fw utility that you built above: ipod_fw -o apple_os.bin -e 0 bootpartition.bin --> obviously i did not come that far :)
many thanks for any help !!
Llorean:
The files should be wherever you run those commands from...

many many thanks !
although it does not fully work yet i just love the interface :)
many many thanks for all developers !!!
dan_a:
MP3s skip the least if you are in the menu while they are playing - not on the screen that tells you what you are listening to.
There's lots of work going on to improve things, though.
