error trying to install

hey to everyone here.

i was trying to insttall rockbox (on my ipod 20gb clikwheel version) and following the guide i do not get past the ipodpatcher command as i get an error saying 16 bit msdos subsystem error and the ntvdm cpu has encountered an illegal instruction or something similar. does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you running Windows 9x or 2K/XP?
Could you cut and paste your terminal window for all to see?
(Easiest way to do that is right-click-->Select All, then Ctrl-C, then paste in here)

nope. running service pack 2 annd ive also tried those fixes that microsoft lists ion replaceing ther command, config files. and still doesnt work

I'd start from scratch.  Delete and download again all the files, and start from scratch.  If you get the same error, reinstall SP2, preferably from a fresh download of the XPSP2 executable from Microsoft (This is a link :D).
That kind of error implies something is wrong with windows or the program.
