BUG: "Recently Added" Always Empty

(1/1)

jbf:
One thing I can never get to work on Rockbox is the "Recently Added" database list on iPod Video (5th Gen).

There was a bug way back in 2010 that supposedy fixed this issue but I  have never been able to get it to work.    Original task was:  FS#9256

Device:   iPod Video (5th gen)
Rockbox Version:  V4
Detailed Version:  1fadf1cd89-250404

Options tried:

Load to RAM:  Quick
Auto Update:  YES
Gather Runtime Data:   YES

I've tried every combination of these three settings it never works.   Always shows empty.

Ive asked around in various iPod discord within the Rockbox channels and no one has confirmed it works at all.

Does this feature work?   If so, what is the key to getting this to work properly?    I have a large database size of 21k songs.

Updates:

Tried using Update Now after adding new files to my iPod.

Under debug menu -> database info

I am able to see the database updating.
Initialized: Yes
DB Ready: Yes
Ram Cache: Yes
Total Entries: increasing
Progress:  increasing

Once it finishes scanning files, the progress percentage goes to minus one percent and I see the commit step advancing all the way up to 10.

Once here it then restarts its progress percentage.  This time it’s much slower.

Once it reaches 100% second time it does not do any commit steps and just stays at 100%.

So this updating actually worked, however the recently added never works.

Can any of the actual devs please confirm if this works and how to make it work?  It would be an amazing feature if I would actually function.  Ive never gotten it to work on either my Mini or my 5G Video iPod.
