Genre Tags on iPod Video

(1/1)

jbf:
Hi,

I read in the manual that multiple tags are not used by Genre and only the first tag will be used.   I'd like to get a little more clarity on this subject if at all possible.

Is there any way at all to get Rockbox to properly generate genres in the database for songs that use multiple genre's separated by semicolon?

I typically use semi-colons in Media Monkey to add songs that belong to multiple genres.    On my stock iPod mini, it seems to handle tags separated by semi-colon without an issue.

On my iPod Video (5.5 or 5th Gen Enhanced), it seems to capture every entry with semi-colon as a single tag.  This ends up with many many duplicated genre tags.

I have a very very large library (over 22k songs) and most with full albums.

Trying to find the best way to handle this so my iPod's running rockbox can have a nice clean genre list without me having to re-tag the entire library in a very specific way for the iPods.

Can anyone give helpful insight or suggestions?
