Do I need Windows to install Rockbox?

Forgive me, but I'm new to the world of Rockbox. I just received my 1TB/3000mAh/USB-C modded iPod (7th gen) from Player-Mods and I really want to use Rockbox as all my music is on an external hard drive and I don't want to have to use iTunes/Music to transfer said library.

I've gotten the boot loader onto my iPod, but I can't get it to go any further. Whenever I reboot it, it just brings me back to the same screen saying "Rockbox boot loader."

Should I download a Windows simulator and try it that way? Or can I have someone with a PC do everything except transfer for my music for me?
