Removing clock from status bar
(1/1)
Zakalwe:
I'm new to meddling with themes, and there is only one little(?) thing I want to do, but I am already stumped: I want to remove the clock display from the status bar. (I mainly use a Sansa e280v2, and its RTC is too fast - I would rather not see it at all instead of getting confused. :) )
I already use a theme (cabbie v2) that has no clock in the WPS, so that is alright, but I also want it gone from the general menus. My thinking was I edit an .sbs file in the .rockbox/wps folder, removing the RTC-line there. And then I make the theme use that status bar by setting the path to the .sbs-file in the .cfg-file in the .rockbox/themes folder. But no matter what I do, the clock does not go away. I probably do not understand the situation, what to edit or similar. Any hints?

Your logic for approaching this problem seems pretty solid, by all means it should have worked. One thing I can think of being the issue is wether you loaded the theme again? Whenever you make changes to theme files you need to either reboot or re-load the theme from the themes menu.
But apart from that, without seeing the theme code itself it'll be hard to provide much more advice.
Zakalwe:
Thank you! It is already quite helpful to know that my approach is not entirely wrong. I think I have reloaded, but it is quite possible I missed some detail, some typo in a path or a filename, it is all a bit messy given my experimentation. I will clean up things and see if I can make it work.
