Improved sound quality
(1/1)

I just installed Rockbox on my Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip and I'm noticing improved sound quality. Has anyone noticed improved sound quality on their devices?
Maybe the decoding results in less jitter. Maybe it's just psychological I don't know.

The main audio difference I can recall (assuming no EQ, etc in rockbox) is this:
2010-08-18: Improve playback rate accuracy (from 1.1% error down to 0.04%) on Sandisk Sansa ClipV2, Clip+ and FuzeV2
There are some other minor things but I don't think any you'd notice right away, whereas the pitch error in the OF might be noticeable to some people.

My own experience with digital audio is that timing's extremely important for the sound quality. I've made my own Digital Audio Player and I've noticed the same difference there.
I find it fascinating that the same FLAC files played on the same hardware but with different software can result in substantial sonic differences.
