Do not turn off backlight until the Never setting is applied (SOLVED)
(1/1)
questions2000:
(iPod but not sure if iPod specific issue)
Sorry this is kind of a suggestion/question/bug report
(If this is a bug, I cannot report, would someone be willing to report this)
In General Settings - Display - LCD Settings - Backlight and Backlight (While Plugged In)
If you bring the highlight to the "Never" option it instantly turns off your Backlight.
To me it seems like the backlight should not turn "off" until the user actually clicks the "Never" option to apply it.
Not sure if anyone else experiences this / agrees?
Thank You
This is not backlight issue I mentioned I notticed in my other post, I edited that out, not sure if anyone read it before I did.
I had noticed a different possible issue regarding a combination of Backlight settings, the only thing is it is a rather specific use case so probably not something that will be addressed.
Also I find the use case valuable but could be improved upon, but I am scared to mention because it might be removed instead. Have to think about if worth mentioning.
iPodVT:
I just now tried this and got the same result as questions2000.
If you highlight any item in the Backlight setting list but don't click it, the backlight turns off after that item's specified time. If you click an item its setting gets saved and if you left/back click you exit the menu and the 'new' setting gets cancelled.
This is a common behavior in at least several Settings menus and I assume it's intended as a way to preview the effect of the setting. The Volume setting menu works the same way. So does the Compressor Threshold menu.

@iPodVT
Okay, so this is on purpose.
I was not aware that the cursor highlight, when on top of the setting, gives a demonstration of how that setting will function.
Actually a nice idea, just not being aware of it though makes the "Never" setting seem like it could be a bug :)
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, this is good to know.
